Principal's Welcome Message
Welcome to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Elementary School. As the Principal, I welcome you to a vibrant school community focused on creating a welcoming and caring faith-centred environment with Jesus, and St. Francis Xavier, as our teacher and guide. With high standards in all areas, we work to foster growth in academic, spiritual, social and emotional realms so that all learners will reach their true potential as confident and responsible citizens. Our school is blessed with a caring, talented staff committed to creating opportunities for students to share their wonderful gifts. Included in our community is our school parish St. Francis Xavier Church. Under the guidance and leadership of our parish priest, Father Mariusz, Associate Paster, Father Francesco and Youth Minister, Wes Moga, the students will have the opportunity to grow and flourish through the sacraments and our daily life. We place great value on our three cornerstones of community-school, home, and church! Together we can prepare our 21st century learners for a productive meaningful life, accepting of all those around us, while working together in the image of Jesus Christ.
At SFX, we are fortunate to have a school council that has, and continues to be, a wonderful support to our school community. As well, we have dedicated volunteers who give of their time and energy to enrich the learning experience of all our students. Collectively, we have created an environment where it is safe to challenge and grow.
We are proud of the efforts of our talented students as they work to achieve the expectations, and model the image of Jesus. Our students are offered many opportunities to grow as a Catholic school community through sports teams, clubs, extracurricular activities and service initiatives. Our students, emulating the life of St. Francis Xavier himself, demonstrate the call to service through their acts of kindness, continually showing their genuine concern for others. Students are reminded daily of the Keys 4 Success: Respect, Responsibility, Safety, and Perseverance and they experience both intrinsic and extrinsic rewards as they strive to foster each one. Daily, our students are challenged to make the world a better place and are reminded that in all realms of life, "If we BELIEVE, we can ACHIEVE!"
It is our hope that all families will use this website to stay up-to-date with all the activities that will be taking place at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Elementary School. Our monthly newsletters will be posted on this site at the beginning of each month as will our CSC agendas and minutes.
We have so much to be thankful for at St. Francis Xavier School . . . our staff, parish team, students, parents / guardians, and many volunteers . We look forward to continual academic, spiritual and social growth, as we work together as a Catholic school community. Together let's encourage each other to "Let the same character be in you that was in Christ Jesus" (Phillippians 2:5). In doing so, with God's blessings, our most precious gifts - our children, will grow to be the best they can be.
Yours in Christ,
Olga Scheer, principal
