Letter to parents/guardians: Province announces a return to remote learning

April 12, 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Earlier today, the provincial government announced a return to remote learning following the April Break. The move was made in response to the rapid increase in COVID-19 cases, increasing risks from the COVID-19 variants, and the massive spike in hospital admissions.

All publicly funded and private elementary and secondary schools in the province will move to teacher-led remote learning when students return from the April Break on April 19, 2021. No time frame has been announced as to when in-school learning will return.

Child care will remain open for non-school aged children, however, before and after school programs will be closed for the remote learning period. As in previous shifts to remote learning, school boards have been asked to ensure plans are in place to support students with special education needs who require additional support that cannot be accommodated through remote learning.

Additional information will be communicated to families in the next couple of days.

We hope you have a relaxing and safe Spring Break.
